This sure isn’t the best guitar I’ve every built, but it’s perfect for me. It’s one of my first guitars featuring my own headstock, and one of my first sets of ’62 pickups. Oh, and Frusciante-inspired, obviously.

I don’t really like sunburst guitars, and certainly wouldn’t ever buy one off the rack I think. But the roadwear on John’s #1 strat makes that the most beatifull guitar to me. Weird how that works.

I used to assume I liked vintage modern frets and a modern C neck – that is, until I was building a stock guitar and ran out of regular fret wire. I had a coil of vintage fret wire laying about and decided to use that. Also tried a more vintage inspired neck profile – amazing. Just what I needed. My next neck I build was the one that’s on my guitar, a vintage inspired C to V (who would have thought?) with small vintage frets.

This guitar is what I compare every stock guitar to – most stock guitars are ‘guitars I’d like to own myself’ – none have managed to knock this one of its place though!
